ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern College athletics has named men's cross country student-athlete
Caleb Tofteland and volleyball student-athlete
Zavyr Metzger as the Raider Athletes of the Week, presented by American State Bank, for their performances during the week of November 24th.
MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Caleb Tofteland, Men's Cross Country
- Tofteland (Fr., Wichita, Kan.) placed 52nd of 326 runners at the NAIA National Meet on Friday, November 21st.
- The freshman notched the highest finish for a Raider since 2020 with a time of 25:27.4.
- Tofteland entered the meet as the 94th ranked runner and ended as the highest finisher from the GPAC.
FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Zavyr Metzger, Volleyball
- Metzger (Sr., Larchwood, Iowa) showed why she was once again GPAC DPOY notching nine blocks in the NAIA Opening Round.
- The senior helped lead her squad to a 3-0 sweep over Saint Xavier (Ill.) to return to NAIA pool play in Sioux City.
- Metzger also continues to hit efficiently with four kills on 10 attacks.
