Raiders Extend Winning Streak With Strong Offensive Performance

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Northwestern scored its most points since 2019, paced by two 40-point performances, in a 122-104 win over Saint Francis.

Northwestern began the first half with a strong offensive showing, highlighted by efficient scoring in the paint. Jesse Van Kalsbeek was instrumental early, contributing multiple layups to build momentum. The Raiders opened the game on a 16-3 run, closed by a layup from Grant Tigges. Jalen Langsy also provided a scoring boost with key three-pointers and assists.

The Raiders maintained their advantage throughout the half, capitalizing on Saint Francis' turnovers and converting them into fast-break opportunities. The Raiders' defense complemented their offensive efforts, limiting the visitors' scoring chances and securing defensive rebounds. Northwestern closed the half effectively, extending their lead to 62-41 by the end of the first.

The Raiders held a substantial lead early in the second half, with Van Kalsbeek contributing significantly in the paint. Despite a brief scoring surge from the Cougars narrowing the gap, the Red Raiders maintained their advantage through efficient shooting, including a three-pointer from Isaac Cordes at the 10:01 mark, which extended the Raider lead to 25 points.

As the half progressed, Northwestern's offensive consistency, highlighted by Langsy's drives and assists, kept them ahead. Saint Francis attempted to rally with scores from Karson Rogers and RJ Moore, but the Raiders' balanced attack, culminating in a three-pointer from Blake Aalbers in the closing moments, kept Northwestern as the aggressor in a 122-104 win.
