Raiders Hold Spot in Standings with 2-2 Draw

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Northwestern played to a 2-2 draw with Briar Cliff on Wednesday afternoon at Faber Field.

The match began with both teams striving for an early advantage. The Chargers opened the scoring in the 6th minute with a goal by Tamzin Hilton, assisted by Ondine Manceau, giving them a 1-0 lead. The Red Raiders responded in the 15th minute when Lucy Staines equalized with a goal off of Mya Cole's free kick and the deflection by Aliza Edwards, leveling the score at 1-1. The remainder of the half saw attempts from both sides, but neither team could break the deadlock before the period ended.

Northwestern opened the second half with a goal by Olivia Regnerus in the 49th minute, assisted by Edwards, to take a 2-1 lead. However, BCU quickly responded as Sadie Jones converted a penalty kick in the 50th minute to level the score at 2-2. Despite multiple saves by Bynum, the Chargers continued to apply pressure, including a shot by Sydney Robbins in the 85th minute. Both teams traded fouls and scoring opportunities, but neither could break the deadlock, ending the match in a 2-2 draw.
