CRETE, Neb. — Northwestern College (6-5-2, 2-3-2) fell to Doane University (6-5-2, 4-1-1) with a final score of 3-1 on Saturday at Memorial/Papik Field.
The match between Northwestern College and Doane University began with Doane's Brianna-Lynn Ehia scoring in the opening minute off the assist from McKenna Rathbun. The Red Raiders responded with persistent offense, as
Lucy Staines fired two shots on goal, both saved by Johnson, and later hit the post in the 39th minute.
Mya Cole evened out the score for the Raiders at 39:42 with her second goal of the season. The first half concluded with the teams tied 1-1, setting the stage for an engaging second half.
The Tigers extended their lead in the second half with a goal from McKenna Rathbun in the 56th minute, assisted by Celeste Galvan, making the score 2-1. The Raiders' Staines and
Aliza Edwards applied pressure with multiple shots but were unable to convert. In the 87th minute, Brianna-Lynn Ehia sealed the victory for Doane with a goal again with assist from Rathbun, increasing the lead to 3-1. Despite the Raiders' efforts, including several corner kicks and a shot on target by Edwards in the 85th minute, they could not find the back of the net again.
