Raiders Sneak Past Briar Cliff for 10th Win

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Northwestern edged out Briar Cliff in a tense contest, securing a 3-2 victory with a decisive goal in the second half.

The first half began with both teams testing each other's defenses. Northwestern opened the scoring in the 33rd minute when Drew Darnold netted his tenth goal of the season, assisted by Giulio Palombo and Miller Rojas. BCU attempted to respond but was thwarted by Northwestern goalkeeper Edoardo Alessandrini, who made key saves, including a shot from Finlay Skilling in the 44th minute. The Raiders extended their lead to 2-0 before the end of the half as Bauti Marques scored with assistance from Gonzalo Domingo's free kick.

Northwestern extended their lead early in the second half with Jannes Kuehn scoring in the 63rd minute, assisted by Darnold and Jovany Kabongo, making it 3-0. The Chargers quickly responded, reducing the deficit to 3-1 with a goal by Pablo Gonzalez in the 63rd minute. Pressure continued from BCU, and they further closed the gap to 3-2 with David Sauter's goal in the 82nd minute, assisted by Alejandro Illan. Despite numerous attempts, including multiple corner kicks by Gabriel Hernandez Le, Briar Cliff could not equalize, leaving the Raiders to secure the victory.
