Women’s Soccer Battles in Season-Ending Defeat

SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – Northwestern scored two second-half goals, but Dordt went ahead in the final minutes in a 3-2 battle.

Dordt applied early pressure, with Jenna Roberts scoring the first goal in the 14th minute, assisted by Karinna Tel. Northwestern struggled to create offensive opportunities, with a high shot from Mya Cole in the 37th minute being their only significant attempt. The Defenders maintained momentum with multiple corner kicks and shots, finishing the first half leading 1-0.

The second period saw a dramatic exchange of goals between the Red Raiders and Defenders. Lucy Staines equalized at 1-1 with a penalty kick in the 69th minute. Dordt responded quickly with Karinna Tel scoring in the 75th minute, assisted by Megan Aukes, to regain the lead. As the clock wound down, Northwestern leveled the score again at 2-2 in the 88th minute with a goal from Camryn Wilkinson, assisted by Cole's corner kick. However, the Defenders clinched the victory with a decisive goal by Kelli Waypa, assisted by Brooke Marjama, in the 89th minute, concluding the match 3-2 in favor of the home team.
