Raiders Rout Central in Tulip Town Showdown

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The No. 8-ranked Northwestern men's basketball team defeated Central 99-65 at the Bultman Center on Tuesday, powered by three 20-point performances for the Raider offense.

Northwestern opened the game with a bucket from Grant Tigges, but after Central took an early 10-2 lead, the Raiders used a 23-4 run over seven minutes to jump in front 25-12 with 10 minutes in the first half. The Raiders' scoring momentum picked up as they found success in the paint, with Grant Tigges and Jesse Van Kalsbeek contributing crucial points, keeping Northwestern ahead after the initial exchanges.

As the half progressed, the Raiders continued to capitalize on their opportunities, with Manny Hammonds and Langsy leading key scoring drives. The team demonstrated effective ball movement, resulting in multiple assists, and maintained defensive pressure with blocks by Langsy and Kasen Bailey. The Red Raiders closed the half on a high note, extending their lead to 49-24, with a driving dunk by Van Kalsbeek in the final minute.

The Raiders began the second half with a strong offensive push, highlighted by a series of successful plays from Van Kalsbeek. He contributed with a dunk and multiple layups, helping the Raiders widen their lead. Langsy also added crucial points with a layup and a jumper, maintaining the offensive momentum.

Throughout the half, the Raiders capitalized on turnovers, with Isaac Cordes and Van Kalsbeek each securing steals that led to scoring opportunities. The home side extended their advantage further with key plays by Hammonds and Max Dearborn, who added to their scoring totals for the night.

As the half concluded, Northwestern remained in control, with Dearborn hitting two late three-pointers to add to the lead and secure a 99-65 win.

GAME NOTES
  • Jesse Van Kalsbeek recorded his second double-double in as many games, posting 21 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Manny Hammonds scored 21 points, making his first nine shots.
  • Jalen Langsy led all scorers with 22 points, also adding five assists and four rebounds.
  • Grant Tigges and Max Dearborn each had eight points.
  • The Raiders shot 63.1% from the field and had 21 bench points.
