Smythe Receives GPAC Honor

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Northwestern linebacker Jackson Smythe has been selected as the GPAC Defensive Player of the Week, presented by Hauff Mid-America Sports. It is the first time in his career that he has earned a GPAC weekly honor.

"Jackson has become a steady presence and a playmaker in our defense," head coach Matt McCarty said. "His effort and leadership played a key role in keeping a shutout on Saturday."

Smythe led the Raiders with a career-high nine tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss, helping the Raiders to a 28-0 shutout. He leads Northwestern with 39 tackles on the year and has led a defense that has shutout its opponents in all three wins this year.

Northwestern is back home this Saturday, hosting No. 4 Morningside at 1:00 p.m.
