Fast Start Fuels Raiders in Dominant Win

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern shot 64.7% from the field and made 12 threes as the Raiders used a balanced attack to take down Briar Cliff 109-77.

The Red Raiders started strong in the first half, with Kaleb Booth making a significant impact by scoring three consecutive three-pointers early in the game, contributing to a 13-0 lead. Zach LaFave and Jesse Van Kalsbeek added to the advantage with successful plays in the paint, while Jesse further extended the lead with a dunk and a layup, leading to a 32-point lead at one point with 6:16 left in the half. The Raiders maintained their dominance throughout, finishing the half with a 58-33 advantage over the Chargers, supported by a balanced offense and solid defensive rebounds.

In the second half, the Raiders capitalized on their strong offensive performance to extend their lead. LaFave sparked the team with an early layup at 19:15, while Jalen Langsy and Jesse Van Kalsbeek each contributed valuable points, with Van Kalsbeek making a layup and free throw at 9:33 to help the Red Raiders achieve their largest lead of 44 points. The team also showcased their defensive strength with Marcus Kelderman blocking a shot and Nathan Koole adding a block later in the half. The Raiders closed the half with a 51-44 score, maintaining their advantage over the Chargers.
