Northwestern Earns Experience at Saturday Tournament

Worthington, MN - It would be a small group of wrestlers making the trip to the Worthington Open as the team comes off a dual win in Sioux City.

Many of the wrestlers from the previous night's 24-17 dual win at Briar Cliff would not make the short journey to Worthington, Minnesota for Saturday's tournament as the team faced some tough competition featuring schools from around the NAIA, JUCO, and Division II levels. "I was impressed with how our young guys battled through that tough level of competition," said head coach Rik Dahl. "Win or lose these guys were competitive." One of those young guys included Logan Ash at heavyweight who would pick up a big win by fall to make it to the quarterfinal round. Meanwhile in the 184 lb bracket, two Raiders would face off against each other as Pepe Sanchez and Thomas Vance wrestled off on the backside of the bracket as Sanchez took the tech fall victory.

Up Next: Northwestern travels to Marshall, Missouri for the two day Missouri Valley Invite on Friday, January 24th and 25th.
