Jamestown, N.D.– Northwestern traveled to former GPAC opponent Jamestown for a sunny matchup on Saturday afternoon.
The first half did not bring much excitement as neither team was able to score. The attack was even for both sides, the Raiders got off 6 shots compared to Jamestown's 5 and both teams had 3 shots on goal. The two teams also shared 4 corner kicks each in the first 45 minutes. Northwestern stayed clean defensively as well, only committing 3 fouls and letting up no goals.
Opportunities for Jamestown were limited in the second half, but they took full advantage of these chances.
In the 69th minute, Jamestown broke the scoreless tie when they found the back of the net past the Raiders keeper.
In the 81st minute, a Raider defender mistimed a slide tackle attempt in the box that led to a Jimmy penalty kick which they converted millimeters past the outstretched arms of Lars Ingram.
The Northwestern back line only allowed 3 shots in the second half, but it took perfect execution for the Jimmies to score twice.
The Raiders struggled offensively in the second half as they only had one shot on goal.
