How It Happened
In a rematch from February 17, Northwestern and Valley City State (N.D.) took the field in Tucson with the Vikings looking to even the season series. They accomplished the task, taking down the No. 14-ranked Red Raiders 4-3.

Kate Kralik held Valley City State to one hit in the first five innings, as the Raiders took advantage of the stellar pitching to take a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth. After Northwestern's first two batters got aboard, Kameryn Etherington doubled with the bases loaded later in the inning to bring two home and go ahead 2-0. Northwestern added one more in the next at bat as Chloe Gallegos reached on a fielder's choice that brought in the third run of the frame.

The Vikings answered in the top of the sixth, loading the bases with no outs before starting their comeback bid. They came within one after an RBI single and a walk scored two, and a 2-RBI double gave Valley City State the lead.

Northwestern made some noise in the bottom of the seventh, earning a walk and a single in their first two at bats, but ultimately left runners on first and second in their second loss of the season.

Game Notes:
  • Kameryn Etherington and Chloe Gallegos both doubled.
  • Etherington drove in one run on a 1-for-3 day, while Gallegos went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
  • Logan Miller singled in a pinch hit appearance.
