How It Happened
Grand View used the long ball to sprint past the Raiders in game one of Saturday's doubleheader. The Vikings knocked two out of the park in the first two innings and took a 3-0 lead before the Raiders got on the board in the fourth.

With runners at the corners, Bryce Click singled to bring Mason Porepp home for Northwestern's lone run of the contest.

Another Viking home run moved the score to 6-1, as Grand View added on again in the sixth for the 10-1 win.

How It Happened
It was a performance to remember for Drew Dykstra, as the junior produced on the mound and in the batter's box.

The Raiders started strong, scoring twice in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. Bryce Click blasted a one-out home run, while Mason Porepp drove Sam Stanford for the second run of the frame.

After the Vikings tied it in their half of the inning, neither team scored again until the fifth, when Northwestern put three runs across. Dykstra led off the inning with a solo shot, while back-to-back singles gave Sam Stanford the RBI and the Raiders a 4-2 advantage. Stanford later came around to score on a TJ Silliman base hit to end the inning.

With Northwestern taking a 6-3 lead into the seventh, Stanford added an insurance run with his first home run of the year and fifth for his career to help the Raiders end the weekend victorious.

Game Notes:
  • Drew Dykstra threw a complete game, striking out 16 and surrendering only one walk.
  • At the dish, Dykstra hit a home run and a double.
  • Isaac Short and Sam Stanford both collected three hits.
  • Bryce Click notched two hits, with a home run.
Up Next: Northwestern will take the diamond next in Florida, meeting Roosevelt (Ill.) on Tuesday, March 5.
