Women’s Tennis Extends Winning Streak to Three

Raiders have won four of five this spring

OWATONNA, Minn. – The Red Raider women's tennis team continued its impressive spring season, defeating NCAA Division III Wartburg (Iowa) in a neutral-site contest on Saturday. The originally scheduled match against St. Olaf was ruled a no contest.

Northwestern took one of the three doubles points by NCAA scoring rules, as Olya Furmanova and Emily Westenberg won 8-3 at the No. 2 slot.

In singles, the Raiders won five of the six matches to come away with a 6-3 team win. Julia Kutz battled through a 7-6 first set to win in two sets, and Furmanova won both of her sets 6-1. In the No. 3 and No. 4 matches, Julia Anderson and Ainslee Robinson took home wins, while Westenberg secured the win at the No. 6 slot with a 6-3, 6-2 decision.

Up Next: Northwestern will return to the court after spring break, traveling to St. Peter, Minnesota for a matchup with Bethany Lutheran (Minn.) on Friday, March 15.
