Foss Notches First Double-Double in Road Win

Schany leads all scorers with 26 points

FREMONT, Neb. – The Northwestern women's basketball team continues to play well down the stretch, extending its winning streak to three games with a 92-67 win at Midland on Saturday.

"The main theme in the locker room at halftime was about toughness, physicality, pace of play, and controlling the things we can control," said head coach Kristin Rotert. "I'm proud of our group for responding in the second half. We were much better on offense and defense, and this was probably the best game I've seen us play all year in terms of sharing the basketball."

The Raiders were on fire to begin the game, jumping out to a 12-2 lead with just over five minutes played. They continued to display consistent offense and solid defense for the rest of the quarter, shooting 56.3% from the field to Midland's 35.7% on their way to a 21-13 lead after the first frame.

The story flipped in the second quarter as Midland outscored Northwestern 23-18, taking a 31-26 lead at the 4:36 mark. Northwestern battled back, outscoring the Warriors 13-5 over the last four minutes to take a 39-36 lead into the break.

Northwestern began to pull away in the third, going on a 14-0 run in the first four minutes to extend its lead to 17 points. The halftime adjustments continued to pay off, as the Raiders led 68-48 going into the final period.

Northwestern's lead dropped below 20 points just once in the fourth, as the Raiders took their largest lead of the game at 27 points with 2:45 remaining. With the win, Northwestern enters the week in a three-way tie for fifth in the GPAC standings.
