Van Kalsbeek & Van Kekerix earn the weekly Raider awards for their performances.

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern College athletics has named men's basketball student-athlete Alex Van Kalsbeek and women's basketball student-athlete Lexie Van Kekerix as the Raider Athletes of the Week, presented by American State Bank, for their performances during the week of February 13.

MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Alex Van Kalsbeek, Men's Basketball
  • Van Kalsbeek (So., Sheldon, Iowa) led the Raiders in scoring average once again last week.
  • He used a 27-point effort to help his team defeat Jamestown, while scoring 16 points in Saturday's home win.
  • The former All-American now sits fifth in the GPAC in scoring average.
FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Lexie Van Kekerix, Women's Basketball
  • Van Kekerix (Jr., Rock Valley, Iowa) scored a career-high 24 points in Saturday's win over Mount Marty.
  • She also scored in double-figures in a narrow loss at Jamestown, adding 12 points.
  • Of her 24 points on Saturday, 19 were scored in the first half alone.
