Kalvelage Captures First Place to Start New Campaign

BROOKINGS, S.D. – It was another win for Braden Kalvelage, who won the long jump at the SDSU Holiday Invitational, highlighting the men's performances for Northwestern.

Kalvelage soared to a jump of 7.42m, just behind is PR of 7.47m, winning the event alongside competition from all NCAA and NAIA levels. It marked one of his two top-five finishes as Kalvelage also picked up a fifth-place spot in the 200m.

In his first collegiate meet, Carson Van Sickle finished sixth in the 1 Mile, hitting a mark of 4:30.06 to debut. Also finishing in the top-10 was Michael Rodriguez in his Red Raider debut with a long jump of 6.52m. He also had a PR in the high jump (1.85m) and 200m (22.82).

On the day, the Raider men and women combined for 21 personal bests.
