Lights Out Shooting Push Raiders Past Warriors

Forest City, IA - Northwestern stifled a comeback attempt by Waldorf in the second half thanks to sharp-shooting by the team everywhere on the floor as the Raiders crack triple digits in a 101-80 victory on the road.

A huge first half propelled the Raiders to an early lead as they led the Warriors on the road in Forest City 53-31 at the break. The sibling duo of Alex and Jesse Van Kalsbeek once again takes center stage as they combine for 29 first half points and three rebounds apiece. A good defense is a great way to supplement the 58% shooting offense in the first half as Waldorf gets shut down and held to 39% from the field. Zach LaFave made the most of his defensive effort by picking up three blocks and a steal alongside his three defensive rebounds.

Northwestern came out hot in the second half extending their lead to as much as 26 points but Waldorf wouldn't go without a fight. The Warriors picked it up and pulled the score within 15 points with nine minutes to go but could never quite get over the hump of an 11 point deficit. That came in part from a resurgence of Jalen Langsy who scored 18 second half points only missing one two shots from the field and a free throw. Langsy would finish with a 75% shooting percentage alongside his 83% from beyond the arc. Northwestern as a whole about to shoot a whopping 64% from three and shot almost 60% as they defeat Waldorf 101-80.

Game Notes
  • Northwestern went 19-25 at the free throw line, almost 20% of their total points
  • 64% from three is the highest percentage in a game since February 2, 2022 vs Mount Marty
  • Raiders score 100 points fro the fourth time this season
  • Jesse Van Kalsbeek has scored 22+ points in five of the last six games
