Raiders Claim Top Seed in GPAC Tournament with Road Victory

FOREST CITY, Iowa – Northwestern clinched the top seed in the GPAC tournament and at least a share of the conference regular season title with a sweep of Waldorf on Wednesday.

NWC 3, WU 0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-11)
How It Happened
In a decisive three-set contest, Northwestern took down Waldorf on the road to extend its winning streak to 26 matches and claim back-to-back GPAC regular season titles.

The Raiders kept their foot on the pedal from the get-go, taking a 9-3 lead to start the first set. Their first double-digit lead came at 16-6 on a Waldorf error, before the Raiders closed it out on a 7-1 run, led by the service of Jori Hajek, to win 25-10.

Northwestern came out firing again in the second, scoring the first seven points with two service aces from Alysen Dexter. The Raiders went ahead 13-3 before the Warriors showed signs of life, cutting slightly into the deficit at 14-7. A 4-0 run on Liv Reitsma's service pushed the lead back to 19-7, and despite a late Waldorf rally, Stella Winterfeld sent down the final point to go ahead by two sets.

Another strong start saw the Raiders build up an 11-4 lead early in the third. Following a Waldorf answer, Northwestern scored five of six points to move back ahead by double digits. Late in the set, Dexter scored Northwestern's final three points to secure the sweep.
