Northwestern Falls in Road Non-Conference Clash

Red Raiders set to open GPAC play on Wednesday at College of Saint Mary

BELLEVUE, Neb. – The Northwestern College women's soccer team (2-3, 0-0 GPAC) closed out their 2023 non-conference slate on Saturday afternoon in Nebraska, dropping a 5-0 decision to the (RV) Bruins of Bellevue University (5-1-1).

The first half was a battle, as Bellevue held just a 1-0 lead at the halftime break. In the 28th minute, the Bruins' leading scorer Emma Madej found the back of the net for the eighth time this season.

The depth of the squad receiving votes from Bellevue began to show in the second half, as they put up for more goals. In the first five minutes of the second half, the Bruins put up a pair of goals to extend their lead up to 3-0.

For the Red Raiders, Julie Dunlap (Sr., Des Moines, Iowa) led the team with her three shots. Keirsten Speck (Sr., Elkhorn, Neb.) put two shots up off the bench in the effort.

MATCH NOTES:
Up Next: Northwestern will open up Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) play on Wednesday, September 13 when they travel back to the state of Nebraska to battle the Flames of the College of Saint Mary (2-0-2, 0-0 GPAC) in Omaha at 3:00 p.m.
