Northwestern Scores Three-Straight for Swier's 150th Win

Roelofs delivers career-high three assists; matches program record

ORANGE CITY, Iowa  – Head coach Dan Swier collected his 150th career win as Northwestern (2-1-0, 0-0-0 GPAC) opened their home slate with a 4-1 win over Central Baptist (Ark.) (1-3-0, 0-0-0 AMC) on Friday night.

On a clear evening at the NWC Soccer Complex, a competitive opening to the match was quickly flipped in favor of Northwestern. The Raiders got on the board first as Tim Kaltenberger (Jr., Cologne, Germany) capitalized on a penalty kick for the second time this season, giving his team a 1-0 lead.

Central Baptist answered with a goal of their own less than 10 minutes later, as Joe McElhinney scored his first goal of the season to knot it up.

The Raiders did not wait long to regain their advantage, when Riley Aarbo (Jr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) worked with the ball on the opposite side of the post on a corner pass by Luc Roelofs (Jr., Balgoij, Netherlands), finding the back of the net to break the tie.

Roelofs added another corner kick assist when Adam De Boer (Sr., Orange City, Iowa) scored in the box for his first goal of the year.

After taking a 3-1 lead into the break, Northwestern added an insurance goal as Stan van den Beld (Jr., Voorhout, Netherlands) took a pass in the middle from none other than Roelofs, solidifying the Raider lead at the 46' mark.
