Kelli Herman Named Northwestern Women's Soccer Head Coach

Herman comes to NWC after leading Sioux Falls Lincoln High School girls soccer program

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern College Vice President for Athletics Dr. Micah Parker has announced the hiring of Kelli Herman as the next head coach of Red Raider women's soccer.

"I was thrilled to introduce Kelli Herman to our team last night. Kelli was an outstanding player in college and has been a successful coach. More importantly, she knows her savior and will help our mission of honoring Christ through excellence in education," noted Dr. Parker. "National searches are always interesting to go through. This was another example of God providing for Northwestern College."

Herman, who became the tenth head coach in NWC women's soccer history, comes to Orange City after serving four years (2018-pres.) as the head girls soccer coach at Sioux Falls Lincoln High School in Sioux Falls, S.D. She also coached at the Dakota Alliance Soccer Club since 2019.

In 2022, Herman led the Patriots to a semifinal final appearance in the state tournament. In her time at Lincoln High School, she has been nominated as the Coach of the Year her last two seasons (2022, 2023).

"I'd like to thank President Christy, Dr. Parker, & the NWC Athletic Department for this opportunity to lead the Red Raid Women's Soccer program," noted Herman. "I'm humbled and honored to be a part of a college that stresses the importance of Kingdom Leadership while coaching a sport I love. I look forward to being a part of the Red Raider family."

Herman was a four-year letter winner for South Dakota State University (2007-2011) and named a First Team All-Conference performer as a defender her senior season in 2011. Additionally, Herman was named a National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) All-American in women's soccer in 2012. Her senior season at SDSU also saw her garner the SDSU Courage Award, plus being a four-time SDSU Dean's List honoree.

The Sioux City, Iowa native graduated from South Dakota State in 2012 with a bachelor of science in education. In 2014, she earned a master's degree in sports and recreational studies.
