Raiders to Face Georgetown for Championship Berth

Northwestern defeated Saint Xavier (Ill.) in quarterfinals on Saturday

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the Semifinals pairings of the 2023 NAIA Football Championship Series (FCS) this evening. The Northwestern College football team (13-0, 10-0 GPAC), ranked No. 1 in the nation in the final poll of the season, was selected to host the No. 4-ranked Georgetown Tigers (10-1, 6-0 MSC) next Saturday, December 9 in Orange City.
 
The Tigers of Georgetown hail from the Mid-South Conference and defeated Indiana Wesleyan 31-21 in the FCS Quarterfinals. Quarterback Gehrig Slunaker threw for 126 yards and a touchdown while Darius Neal led the run game with 142 yards.
 
After an even first half saw the score knotted at 10-10, the Raiders put together two touchdown drives in the fourth quarter to defeat Saint Xavier (Ill.) 34-17 in Orange City. Jalyn Gramstad led the way with 217 passing yards and three total touchdowns. Additionally, wide receiver Austyn Gerard caught two touchdowns and Cody Moser pulled in an interception.
 
The Raiders and the Tigers will meet for the first time in each program's history.
 
Kickoff is slated for noon (12:00 p.m.) (CT) from Korver Field at De Valois Stadium on the campus of Northwestern College. More information for the Semifinals game will come this week.
