Northwestern and Midland Play to Draw

Kaltenberger scores his seventh goal of the season

FREMONT, Neb. – In a rematch of the 2022 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Quarterfinals, Northwestern (8-3-2, 4-1-2 GPAC) drew 1-1 with the Midland Warriors (3-6-3, 1-2-3 GPAC) on Saturday.

In a match where penalty kicks were the only method of scoring, Midland struck first, with Colin Macke hitting a PK attempt in the 21st minute to give the home squad a 1-0 lead.

Tim Kaltenberger (Sr., Cologne, Germany) received the next attempt with 23:31 played, hitting his seventh goal of the year, and knotting up the score. It was the fifth goal in four matches for Kaltenberger.

The second half saw shots remain relatively even, with Midland leading in attempts 6-5, but no goals to show for it.

In both of the last two regular season matches between Northwestern and Midland, the teams played to a 1-1 draw.

  • Northwestern held a significant shots on goal advantage, leading the category 7-2.
  • Kaltenberger's seven goals on the season mark a career-high.
  • He is now 4-4 on penalty kick attempts.
