Raiders Take Down Defenders on the Road

Aspas with six saves and shutout

SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – A first half goal by Tim Kaltenberger put the Raiders ahead for good in a tight matchup between cross-county rivals.

"It's always a battle with Dordt from start to finish," commented head coach Dan Swier. "I was proud of Tim for capitalizing on their mistake to score the game-winner. Our defense shined today as we made life very difficult for them."

After a shot by Stan van den Beld (Jr., Voorhout, Netherlands was saved by the Dordt keeper, Kaltenberger (Sr., Cologne, Germany) picked off the pass out of the box and sent it through for the first and only goal of the match with 11 minutes played.

The match became more physical in the second half, but the Red Raider defense held firm, with Pablo Aspas (Sr., Valencia, Spain) stopping five shots in the final 45 to post another shutout.
