Raider Men Picked Second in GPAC Preseason Poll

Northwestern receives five first-place votes

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – With a core group of the team returning for the 2023-24 season, the Northwestern men's basketball team was picked to finish second in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) standings, voted on by the league's head coaches, the conference office announced this morning.

Northwestern received five first-place votes, as they were edged out by Morningside by one vote for the top spot in the conference's preseason poll. 2023 GPAC tournament champion Dordt rounded out the top-three, while regular season champion Jamestown was picked fourth.

The Red Raiders finished fourth in the conference standings last year with a record of 20-10 (13-7 GPAC), hosting a GPAC tournament quarterfinal for the third consecutive season. Northwestern advanced to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) First Round, falling to Southwestern (Kan.).

The Raiders open the year with Indiana University East at the IU East Classic on November 3.
