First NAIA top-25 clash for the Red Raiders this season

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The top-ranked National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Northwestern College football team (7-0, 6-0 GPAC) prepare for their first National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) top-25 clash this weekend when No. 22-ranked and rival Dordt University (5-1, 5-1 GPAC) visits Korver Field at De Valois Stadium. NWC NOTABLES
  • Northwestern welcomes rival Dordt to Orange City on Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. kickoff from Korver Field.
  • NWC has started the season 7-0 for the 10th time in program history and fourth time under McCarty.
  • Northwestern is one of eight unbeaten NAIA schools heading into Week 8 of the season.
  • Michael Storey became the third Red Raider to notch 4,000 career receiving yards last week at Briar Cliff.
  • Storey sits second in the NAIA in receiving yards per game at 115.6, having four 100+-yard receiving games this season.
  • NWC has recorded an interception in 13-straight games and has forced at least one opponent turnover in 25-straight games.
  • The winning streak continues, now up to 20-straight games.
  • The Red Raiders have taken a weekly honor from the league office in six of the first seven weeks of the season.
  • NWC is 17-0 with Jalyn Gramstad as the starting quarterback.

  • Jessen Reinking leads the team with his three forced fumbles this season.
  • There's a three-way tie for the team lead in sacks (4.0).

GPAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
  • Senior running back Konner McQuillan tallied his second GPAC Offensive Player of the Week honor for Week 7.
  • He led the team in both rushing yards (123) and receiving yards (92), totaling 215 yards of offense.
  • He accounted for four of the five Red Raider touchdowns in the victory, now leading the GPAC with his 12 rushing scores.
  • He had five catches for 92 yards and a 48-yard TD reception.
  • He set new career-highs in rushing scores (3) and longest rush (73 yards).
GPAC SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
  • Senior kicker Eli Stader also picked up his second Special Teams Player of the Week accolade this season.
  • He started the scoring on the day with a 27-yard field goal.
  • He was a perfect 5-for-5 in PAT attempts.
  • He now has hit 41 field goals in his Red Raider career.
FAST STARTS
  • Northwestern has gotten off to fast starts in 2023, outscoring opponents 61-10 in the first quarter this season.
  • Only Concordia (Neb.) and Midland has scored on the Red Raider defense in the first quarter.
  • NWC has held five opponents (Drake, Doane, Mount Marty, Hastings, Briar Cliff) scoreless in the first 15 minutes of play.
CODY MOSER – THE BALL HAWK
  • Converted cornerback turned safety, Cody Moser has made the transition this season look effortless this season.
  • His six interceptions sits tied for the NAIA lead through the first seven weeks of the season.
  • His two interceptions against Hastings was his first-career multi-interception game.
  • He's now recorded an INT in four-straight games for the Red Raider defense.
  • In his Red Raider career, he's recorded eight interceptions.
NAIA COACHES' POLL
  • In the fifth regular season poll, three GPAC teams continue to be ranked in the top-25: Northwestern (No. 1), Morningside (No. 3), and Dordt (No. 22).
  • Poll 5 marks the 31st-straight week NWC has been ranked inside the top-5, dating back to May 17, 2021.
  • It's now 71-straight week the Red Raiders have been ranked inside the top-25.
  • The program record is 72-straight weeks inside the top-25.
  • For the sixth-straight poll, NWC has received all 18 first-place votes in the NAIA Coaches' Poll.
