Northwestern Looks to Continue Victorious Trend

Raiders are set to host GPAC opponents Jamestown and Hastings this weekend

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The Raiders put their three-game winning streak on the line this weekend as they host a pair of Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) opponents in No. 9 Jamestown and Hastings. It will be the fifth and sixth games at the Bultman Center for Northwestern this season, as the Red Raiders hold a 4-0 record on their home court.

LAST TIME OUT:
  • A shorthanded Northwestern squad picked up two wins at the Bellevue Classic last weekend.
  • Dillon Carlson (Sr., Ankeny, Iowa) netted 26 points in a resounding win over Dakota State (S.D.), hitting six threes.
  • Four Raiders scored in double-figures against the Trojans – Carlson, Conner Geddes (So., Sioux Falls, S.D.), Craig Sterk (Jr., McBain, Mich.), and Matt Onken (R-Jr., Marshall, Minn.).
  • In their come-from-behind win against Bellevue (Neb.), Sterk and Onken both crossed the 20-point mark.
  • Kaleb Booth (Fr., Carroll, Iowa) provided a spark off the bench, scoring 12 points, while also totaling eight boards and five assists.
  • Zach LaFave (Jr., Elkhorn, Neb.) recorded his first-career start last Friday, scoring seven points and pulling down four rebounds.
NORTHWESTERN NOTES:
  • Senior guard Grant DeMeulenaere (Sr., Altoona, Iowa) moved into the 300-assist club on Dec. 7, now sitting at 314 career dimes.
  • He becomes the 18th Red Raider to record 300 assists.
  • Sterk continues to climb the Northwestern record books, now sitting 29th in career scoring - he currently has 1,298 points during his tenure.
  • The Raiders hold a 4-0 record this season on their home court.
  • Northwestern is searching for their first win over a ranked opponent since January 22, 2022 when they defeated No. 25 Concordia (Neb.) at the Bultman Center.
THE SERIES:
  • Northwestern holds a 16-8 all-time series lead over Jamestown.
  • The Raiders have taken six of the last seven over the Jimmies, with Jamestown winning the last contest, 85-74 in North Dakota.
  • Northwestern is 41-23 all-time against the Hastings Broncos and 7-0 since 2019.
  • The last time the two teams met was on February 19, 2022, with Northwestern winning 82-69 on the road.
POLL PARTY:
  • The Red Raiders were picked to finish third in this year's GPAC preseason poll after finishing third in the conference standings a year ago.
  • Jamestown, the fourth seed in last year's conference tournament, was picked to win the GPAC this year.
  • Hastings received a 10th-place spot in the GPAC preseason poll, though the Broncos currently sit second in the conference.
SCOUTING THE JIMMIES:
  • Returning All-American Mason Walters currently leads the GPAC in points per game (29.9) and rebounds per game (10.0).
  • Walters is also second in the NAIA in scoring average.
  • Marc Kjos holds the fourth spot in the conference in assists per game (5.0).
  • Jamestown is second in the GPAC and third in the NAIA in points per contest (93.1).
  • The Jimmies crash the glass, leading the GPAC in offensive rebounds (11.1) and sitting fourth in total boards per game (38.7).
SCOUTING THE BRONCOS:
  • Freshman guard Reggie Thomas has had a great start to his career, averaging 21.3 points per game (2nd in GPAC).
  • Grady Corrigan netted a career-high 22 points last week against Presentation.
  • Hastings is off to their best start through 15 games since the 2018-19 season.
