Northwestern Drops Home Dual to Mustangs

Kaleb Lind earns his 18th win of the season

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – It was a difficult night in the Bultman Center for the Raider wrestlers, as No. 14 Morningside (10-2, 5-0 GPAC) took a dual over (RV) Northwestern (3-6, 2-3 GPAC) on Wednesday night.

Morningside took the first 27 points of the dual, winning three bouts by major decision and two by fall. The Raiders received their first win of the night when Jake Francksen-Small (So., Merrill, Iowa) got his team on the board with an impressive 8-2 decision at 174.

The Raiders received another consistent performance at 197 from Kaleb Lind (So., Lindenhurst, Ill.), who won for the 18th time this season, taking a 7-1 decision. The sophomore sits just one win behind the team leader, Luke Jenness (Sr., Primghar, Iowa).

"Kudos to Morningside. They were aggressive and we couldn't back," said head coach Rik Dahl. "We did have some bright spots. Jake and Kaleb did what they needed to do to win. I was also proud of Noah. That guy is consistently ready to fight and doesn't back down. Thankfully we have a few more events to rebound with."

Up Next: The Raiders will travel to Sioux City to face three opponents in the second set of GPAC Duals. Northwestern will face (RV) Concordia at 11:00 a.m., Hastings at 12:30 p.m., and Midland at 3:30 p.m. All matches will take place at Sioux City's Long Lines Family Recreation Center.
