Key Contributions Help Raiders Continue Winning Ways

Northwestern with three 20-point scorers in win over Midland

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern (14-4, 7-3 GPAC) extended their winning streak to seven games on Saturday, taking down the Midland Warriors (7-12, 1-10) on Saturday afternoon. The win also improved the Raiders to a perfect 7-0 on their home court this season.

The Raiders got out to an early lead with back-to-back threes from Conner Geddes (So., Sioux Falls, S.D.) and Dillon Carlson (Sr., Ankeny, Iowa) to make it 8-4 after two minutes of action. Carlson continued to fire from beyond the arc, draining two threes over the next five minutes to push Northwestern's lead to 16-11.

With just under six minutes to play in the first half, Craig Sterk (Jr., McBain, Mich.) threw down a one-handed jam to give the Raiders momentum, starting a 6-0 run. Northwestern took a six-point lead into the break with the score 38-32.

Northwestern's defense started strong in the second half, only allowing two points in the first 4:30, while Matt Onken (R-Jr., Marshall, Minn.) scored eight consecutive points as part of his 19-point second half performance. Carlson followed that up with back-to-back triples to give the Raiders their largest lead to that point, an 18-point differential.

Midland did not go away quietly, however, as the Warriors pulled as close as 68-61 with six minutes to play. The Raiders then answered by closing the game on a 19-5 run, securing their eighth win in Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) play and 14th overall.

"We put together two good games this week," said Northwestern head coach Kris Korver. "It was great to play in front of our home court fans. Our guys put together an excellent second half. We played unselfishly all game and it was great to see our guys play for each other."
