Raiders Prepare for Mount Marty and Midland

Northwestern enters the week riding a five-game winning streak

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Following a pair of important wins in Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) play last weekend, Northwestern takes the court again this week, traveling to face Mount Marty on Wednesday and then welcoming the Midland Warriors to the Bultman Center on Saturday afternoon.

LAST TIME OUT:
  • Northwestern picked up two important wins against No. 9 Jamestown and Hastings on Friday and Saturday.
  • The win over Jamestown was the Raiders' first against a top-25 team since January 22, 2022.
  • Craig Sterk (Jr., McBain, Mich.) averaged 21.5 points and 9.5 rebounds for the weekend, including a career-high 26 points vs. Jamestown.
  • Sterk recorded his 13th-career double-double on Saturday vs. Hastings, totaling 17 points and corraling 13 boards.
  • Zach LaFave (Jr., Elkhorn, Neb.) had his first-career double-double against Jamestown, posting 11 points and a career-high 12 rebounds.
  • Keyton Moser (Jr., Hull, Iowa) pulled in a career-high six rebounds on Saturday.
NORTHWESTERN NOTES:
  • Fifth-year guard Grant DeMeulenaere (Sr., Altoona, Iowa) continues to climb the all-time assists ladder, currently sitting 16th with 321 dimes.
  • Craig Sterk is close to cracking the top-25 all-time scoring list, currently in 27th with 1,341 career points.
  • The Raiders moved to 6-0 at the Bultman Center after two home wins last weekend. All four Northwestern losses have come on the road.
THE SERIES:
  • Northwestern leads the all-time series with Mount Marty 63-17
  • The Raiders swept the season series a year ago, winning 98-70 in the Bultman Center and defeating the Lancers in overtime, 83-81, in Yankton.
  • 38 of the last 40 meetings have gone to Northwestern dating back to the 2004-05 season.
  • Mount Marty last defeated the Raiders on January 15, 2020 (89-79).
  • In the last meeting, Matt Onken (R-Jr., Marshall, Minn.) dropped a career-high 41 points with seven made threes.
  • Northwestern faces Midland for the second time this season after defeating the Warriors 80-71 on November 22.
  • In the road win, Northwestern was led in scoring by Dillon Carlson (Sr., Ankeny, Iowa) with 25 points. Additionally, Onken added a season-high 24 points and nine rebounds.
  • Saturday's game will be the first repeat opponent of the season for the Raiders.
  • Northwestern leads the all-time series 75-29.
SCOUTING THE LANCERS:
  • The Lancers enter Wednesday's game in the midst of a three-game home stretch, where they have lost to Dordt and defeated Concordia (Neb.).
  • Freshman Tash Lunday leads the team in scoring (21.0) and rebounds (7.9).
  • Head coach Collin Authier enters his second year at the helm for the Lancers after previously serving as an assistant at Augustana (S.D.) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
  • Three of Mount Marty's losses are to NCAA opponents (Southwest Minnesota State, South Dakota, and South Dakota State).
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS:
  • After a difficult start to the year, the Warriors enter the week winners of three of their last four.
  • Jake Orr leads the way in scoring and rebounding, averaging 15.8 points and 6.9 boards per outing.
  • Tyler Erwin is in his first season as head coach at Midland after 13 seasons as an assistant at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
