ORANGE CITY, Iowa  – Northwestern (1-3-2, 0-0-0 GPAC) and Bellevue (Neb.) (2-4-2, 0-0-0 CAC) played to a draw on Wednesday night as the Raiders closed out their non-conference season at the NWC Soccer Complex.

The Bruins kept the pressure on the Red Raider defense throughout the first half, leading in shots 7-1 and earning four corner kick opportunities through the opening 45 minutes. Goalkeeper Ezekiel Foltz (Sioux Center, Iowa) made a save out of position in the 28th minute to keep the game scoreless, among other strong defensive efforts throughout the match.

Northwestern had chances throughout the second half, as three of the team's five shots came in a 13-minute stretch. However, Bellevue keeper Romeo Papresta held firm in net for his second shutout of the season.

After drawing in their last two outings, the Raiders will look to earn their second win of the season and first of Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) play at Briar Cliff on Saturday.

MATCH NOTES
  • Foltz earned his 17th-career shutout, which puts him four away from tying the program record held by Matt Scott.
  • Gerard Uamai (Dundalk, Republic of Ireland) led Northwestern in shot attempts with two.
  • Bellevue led in shots 15-5 and shots on goal 6-2.
  • The Bruins had a 5-2 corner kick advantage.
Up Next: The Red Raiders will open conference play on the road, as Northwestern faces Briar Cliff. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. at Faber Field in Sioux City, Iowa.
