Head coach
Monte Tilgner commented, "It was probably the windiest conditions that I've ever seen anyone play in. We got the doubles point, and then after that kind of struggled."
The Raiders took two of the three doubles matches to win the doubles point.
Brian VandenBerg (Jr., Mason City, Iowa) and
David Bomgaars (Fr., Aurora, Colo.) took their match 6-3, improving to 10-4 on the season in the No. 1 spot.
Collin Harmelink (Fr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) and
Juan Mackrey (Sr., Balcare, Argentina) followed suit, winning 6-2 to seal up the point for the Raiders.
VandenBerg carried the momentum from the doubles match and won his singles match, only dropping three total games, 6-3, 6-0. With the win VandenBerg improves to 8-6 on the season in the No. 1 spot. Harmelink forced a third set before eventually dropping his match in the No. 4 spot.
Coach Tilgner added, "Brian played very well in doubles and especially in singles winning against a very good opponent very easily. We'll just keep on working hard and practice to get better."
