SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- The Northwestern College women's tennis team (5-11, 1-5 GPAC) dropped a close, 3-4, match against Hastings College (3-11, 2-4 GPAC).

Head coach Jamie De Jong stated, "We lost a close match today. It came down to Jess and Emma's matches which both went to tiebreaker sets."

The Raiders started the match strong taking two of the three doubles matches to win the point. Julia Kutz (Fr., Sheridan, Wyo.) and Julia Anderson (Fr., Rapid City, S.D.) took the No. 1 spot, 6-3. Ainslie Robinson (Fr., Luverne, Minn.) and Wynne Vandersall (Jr., Martelle, Iowa) secured the doubles point with a 6-3 win in the No. 2 spot. 

Kutz battled on the singles side but eventually dropped the first set 4-6 and then set two 0-6. Anderson earned the Raiders another point in the No. 2 spot with a tough three set victory. She jumped out to a 6-1 set one advantage, after dropping set two 4-6 Anderson took the deciding set three 6-3. Vandersall was dominate in her No. 3 spot, winning 6-0, 6-0. Robinson dropped a competitive match in the No. 4 match. Jessica Wilson (Jr., Onalaska, Wis.) and Emma Montenegro (So., Paramount, Calif.) both took their opponents to a third set but Hastings prevailed to tie up and then win the match.
