Women’s Tennis Battles Bulldogs

SEWARD, Neb. – The Northwestern College women's tennis team (4-8, 0-2 GPAC) traveled to Seward, Neb. to take on another Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) foe in the Concordia (Neb.) Bulldogs (4-7, 2-1 GPAC), falling 2-5.

The Raiders were able to find more success than yesterday's match, taking two points and winning multiple games in all of their matchups. Four of the nine matches went to a tiebreaker, making for a very close match.

Wynne Vandersall (Jr., Des Moines, Iowa) and Ainslie Robinson (Fr., Luverne, Minn.) took their doubles match to a tiebreaker, eventually falling 7-5 in the tiebreaker. Jessica Wilson (Jr., Onalaska, Wis.) and Grace Twelmeyer (So., Des Moines, Iowa) also took their doubles match to a tiebreaker.

Vandersall earned the Raiders first point with a 6-2, 6-3 win in the No. 3 singles spot. Robinson followed suit winning her match in the No. 4 spot. Robinson won the first set in impressive fashion 6-1. After dropping the second set, Robinson bounced back to take the victory with a 6-3 set three win. Wilson lost a long match that went to a tiebreaker. She dropped the first set 1-6 but flipped the score and won the second set. The third set went to a tiebreaker and she narrowly lost 5-7.

Up Next: The Raiders will take on Morningside in Sioux City, Iowa on April 5 at 4:00 p.m.
