Cunningham comes from Luverne Public School and is an All-Conference tennis player. He is a Singles Section Champion and was a part of two tennis team that were section champions. His overall career record is 37-13 and Cunningham's most recent season saw him post a 24-5 record.

"I am very excited for Pierce to join our program next year," said head coach Monte Tilgner. "I have seen good growth in his game just the past five months and look forward to even more as he finishes out his high school career. He will continue to improve as Northwestern and I feel he will be a great asset to our team."

Cunningham is a National Honor Society member and an A Honor Roll student. He plans to study Biochemistry and Biophysics at Northwestern. Cunningham is the son of Jason and Annalisa.

"I chose Northwestern due to the community and the opportunities that they have to offer me," stated Cunningham. "During my visits, it felt that everyone I talked to wanted me to be there and made me feel welcome. They also listened to what I wanted to do and worked so that I could do what was important to me and they were willing to talk with other departments and work it out."
