Raiders Tripped Up By Indiana Tech

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Northwestern College baseball team (4-8, 0-0 GPAC) had their bats stymied by the Warriors of Indiana Tech (6-9, 0-0 WHAC) Thursday down on the campus of Southeastern University, falling 9-2 as the weather ended the game after six innings of play.

Northwestern would strike first in the contest in the third inning, after both teams went quietly in the first two frames. Drew Dykstra (Fr., Urbandale, Iowa/Urbandale) would come into score thanks to an RBI single from Evan Olesen (So., Estherville, Iowa/Estherville Lincoln Central), giving the Raiders the early 1-0 lead.

Indiana Tech would put up an 8-run fourth inning to take command of the game and the 8-1 lead.

With the bases loaded in the bottom half of the fifth, Northwestern would salvage one run as Tanner Schouten (Fr., Orange City, Iowa/MOC-Floyd Valley) would come across to score, as Olesen picked up his second RBI on the day. Northwestern would trail 9-2 after the fifth frame.

In the middle of the top half of the seventh inning, Mother Nature made her presence felt bring upon a lightning delay. Rain would follow and the game would be called after six full innings, as the Raiders fell 9-2.

Up Next: The Raiders will play their first twin bill of the trip down south tomorrow, Friday, March 11 when Northwestern will play Cornerstone (Mich.) and Hastings at 12:00 and 6:00 p.m., respectively from Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale, Fla.
