Three Raiders Place in Sioux City Open

Saturday, February 5, 2022

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The (RV) Northwestern College wrestling team (8-5, 5-3 GPAC) competed at the Dave Edmonds Sioux City Open hosted by Morningside University inside the Hindman-Hobbs Center, where three Raiders placed in the final regular season tournament of the season.

Three Raider wrestlers placed at the open, including Sean Heeney (So., Sioux City, Iowa/East), Kaleb Lind (Fr., Lindenhurst, Ill./Lakes Community), and Jose Sanchez (Fr., San Diego, Calif.). "All three guys had some key wins on the day," noted head coach Rik Dahl.

Leading the pack was Heeney, who left with a fifth-place finish for Northwestern. He went 3-2 on the day with all three victories coming by way of the fall. "Sean looked impressive in his attacks," said Dahl, which helped guide him to a fifth-place finish.

Both Lind (184) and Sanchez (197) picked up sixth-place finishes for the Raiders to conclude the regular season.

"We were inconsistent throughout the day as our youthfulness was evident," said coach Dahl. "The guys battled and we are always proud of that!"

Up Next: The Raiders will now prepare for the GPAC Championships set for Friday, February 18 and Saturday, February 19 in Mitchell, S.D. on the campus of Dakota Wesleyan University.
