Northwestern Uses Fast Start to Roll Past Buena Vista

STORM LAKE, Iowa  – The (RV) Northwestern wrestlers competed in their first dual on Wednesday night, taking a commanding 18-0 lead on the way to a 28-17 win over Buena Vista University (Iowa).

In the first match, Luke Jenness (Sr., Primghar, Iowa) pinned Jonah Siebert to put the Raiders out to a 6-0 lead, followed by two additional wins by fall from Kaleb Lind (So., Lindenhurst, Ill.) and Lincoln Siebert (So. Burns, Wyo.) to go up 18-0.

Buena Vista took the next three, with two by major decision to cut the Raider lead to six before Trey Schuck (So., Sibley, Iowa) and Noah Parmelee (Fr., Sioux City, Iowa) won 9-5 and 8-5, respectively. Breckin Sperling (So., Lincoln, Neb.) closed out the night with an 11-1 major decision in 165.

"The guys wrestled hard and set the tone early in the match," said head coach Rik Dahl.

Up Next: Northwestern will travel to Mitchell, South Dakota on Saturday for the Dakota Wesleyan Open. The meet will open at 9:00 a.m.
