THE SHOOTAROUND
  • Northwestern opened the season 2-0 down in Kansas, improving the all-time record against KCAC opponents to 16-3.
  • Molly Schany and Maddie Jones both dropped double digit points in both games in Kansas.
  • Schany joined the 400-rebound club with her first rebound in the 99-54 win at Bethel.
  • Dating back to the 2005-06 season, Northwestern is 16-1 in home openers.
  • In the two games this season, NWC has been phenomenal from the free throw line (83.8%), leading the GPAC and sitting sixth in the NAIA.
  • Emilee Danner picked up where she left off last season, averaging 9.5 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game.
  • The Red Raiders have a stellar +17 rebounding margin through the first two games this season.
  • Against the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA), NWC is an impressive 53-13 (.803) all-time, winning four of the last five meetings against NSAA opponents.
SERIES HISTORY – DICKINSON STATE
  • Northwestern and Dickinson have met just once previously, back in the 2003-04 season.
  • NWC prevailed in the neutral site game, 71-53.
SERIES HISTORY – TRINITY CHRISTIAN
  • Northwestern and Trinity Christian are meeting on the basketball court for the fifth time on Saturday.
  • The Raiders have won the prior four meetings, winning two at home and two in Palos Heights, Ill.
  • The two teams last met in Orange City back in December of 2018 (2018-19 season), as NWC prevailed 94-45.
  • NWC has scored no less than 87 points in the previous four meetings, winning by an average margin of 46.5 points in those four games.
SCOUTING THE BLUE HAWKS
  • Already having five games under their belt, the Blue Hawks come to Iowa going 2-1 with a trip to Montana last week.
  • Dickinson State was tabbed to finish sixth (of eight teams) in the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Preseason Coaches' Poll.
  • Through their first five games, the Blue Hawks are averaging 63.6 points per game and shooting 40.5% from the floor.
  • It's no secret that Dickinson State looks to go through their transfer-sophomore Samantha Oase, as she leads the team in scoring (17.8ppg) and rebounding (12.4rpg).
  • In their lone game against a team in the NAIA top-25 or receiving votes, the Blue Hawks fell 83-58 to No. 25-ranked Montana-Western.
SCOUTING THE TROLLS
  • Trinity Christian started their season with two league games right off the bat, winning both, to start 2-0 under third-year head coach Theo Owens.
  • They downed Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) 72-65 and Calumet (Ind.) 85-57, both in Palos Heights on their home floor.
  • This weekend marks their first games away from home, where a season ago the Trolls were 4-11 away from their home floor.
  • The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) did not announce a preseason coaches' poll for the 2022-23 season, but last season it was the Saint Xavier (Ill.) Cougars who won the regular season title with a 21-1 league record, followed closely by St. Francis (Ill.) who finished 20-2.
Up Next: The Red Raiders open league play next week with two road games. NWC will travel to Omaha to battle the Flames of the College of Saint Mary on Nov. 16 before rounding out the week heading to Crete, Neb. to face the Doane Tigers.
