Raiders Drop Pair of Duals in Kansas

Jenness moves up to No. 9 on all-time wins list

LEAVENWORTH, Kan.  – The (RV) Northwestern wrestling team (2-1, 1-0 GPAC) traveled to Kansas to take on a duo of non-conference opponents in (RV) Oklahoma Wesleyan (0-0, 0-0 KCAC) and (RV) Saint Mary (Kan.) (1-0, 0-0 KCAC). The young Raider squad took on two of the top teams from the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC), falling in both duals.

Northwestern first took on Oklahoma Wesleyan, as the decision came down to a heavyweight battle at 285, as the Eagles won by a score of 24-18.
Next up was a dual with the host team in Saint Mary, an experienced team that took a 43-9 win from the Raiders.

Kaleb Lind (So., Lindenhurst, Ill.) continued his excellent stretch of wrestling with a 2-0 day and a fall, while Luke Jenness (Sr., Primghar, Iowa) went 1-0 to give himself his 84th career win, surpassing Drew Null for ninth of the program's all-time wins list.

Other Raiders with a win in today's duals include Noah Parmelee (Fr., Sioux City, Iowa) at 149, Samuel Copley (Sr., Denton, Neb.) at 165, and Devin Padilla (Fr., Camas, Wash.) at 157.

"It was a rough day for a young band of Raiders," commented head coach Rik Dahl. "The Oklahoma Wesleyan match came down to an exciting heavyweight match, and Saint Mary has a lot of talent and it overwhelmed our young roster. Time to get back to the drawing board and get ready for the No. 6 Doane Tigers."

Official results will be posted at a later time.

Up Next: Northwestern is set to take on No. 6-ranked Doane in the first set of Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Duals. The first match is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Long Lines Family Recreation Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
