Strong Second Half Propels Raiders Past IU East

Northwestern sees three scorers with 20-plus points

ORANGE CITY, Iowa  – (RV) Northwestern (2-1, 0-0 GPAC) erupted for 57 points in the second half en route to a 101-73 win over Indiana University East (2-1, 0-0 RSC) in their home opener. The Raiders never trailed in Friday's convincing win.

The visiting Red Wolves kept the game close throughout much of the first half before Northwestern pushed their lead to double-digits at the 7:11 mark on a layup from Conner Geddes (So., Sioux Falls, S.D.). Minutes later, Dillon Carlson (Sr., Ankeny, Iowa) hit one of his two three-pointers to help the Raiders extend the lead to 15 points late in the first. Northwestern closed the first half on a 17-5 run.

Geddes led the way in the second half, scoring 17 points on five made threes, including a 3-for-4 stretch from beyond the arc in eight minutes of play. The Red Wolves threatened to make a comeback attempt, in the second half, but the Raiders consistently held their advantage over 20 points, with the lead ballooning to as much as 28 points, to secure the win.

"IU East is a heck of a ball club," said head coach Kris Korver. "I think our guys come in focused, ready to execute the game plan and get out on our home floor."
