Northwestern Falls to Midland 1-0 at Home

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The Northwestern College women's soccer team (6-7-1, 2-5-1 GPAC) dropped a hard-fought match to the Midland Warriors (6-4-3, 4-2-1 GPAC) Saturday afternoon at the NWC Soccer Complex.
 
Neither squad found the back of the net in the first half, though Northwestern had three corner kick opportunities in the first 45 minutes. The Raiders put up five shots to Midland's seven.
 
The second half saw some more offensive action with a combined 19 shots. Midland was able break the scoreless tie in the 53rd minute, which would be the lone score of the game.
 
MATCH NOTES:
  • Alexa Johnson (7) and Julie Dunlap (5) combined for all 12 of the Red Raider shots in the match.
  • Between the two, they combined for eight shots on-goal, with four each.
  • Kaelin Alons picked up nine saves in goal for the Red Raiders, bringing her career total up to 280 saves.
Up Next: Northwestern is set to host Sioux County rival Dordt University this Wednesday, October 12 with kickoff slated for 5:00 p.m. from the NWC Soccer Complex.
