Kaltenberger Nets One, Raiders Draw with Midland

ORANGE CITY, Iowa  – In a match that was a defensive battle for 90 minutes, Northwestern (5-4-4, 4-1-2 GPAC) used a second-half goal to secure a draw with Midland (1-3-2, 5-3-4 GPAC) on Saturday evening in Orange City.

Shots were plentiful for both teams throughout, as the Raiders outshot the Warriors 22-12 throughout, including 13 attempts in the second half alone. Despite the disadvantage on the shot chart, Midland was first to strike as Thomas Moulder received a pass from Gonzalo Bocaz and lofted the ball over the keeper to make the score 1-0 in the first half's final minute.

Down by a score at the midway point of the second half, Tim Kaltenberger (Cologne, Germany) capitalized on a free kick opportunity to knot the match at 1-1, a score that would hold for the remainder of the contest.

  • Northwestern's three-match winning streak came to a close.
