Raiders Drop 2-0 Decision to Presentation

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – On a cool October evening, the Northwestern College women's soccer team (6-9-1, 2-7-1 GPAC) dropped a 2-0 decision to Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) foe, the Presentation College Saints (6-4-3, 3-4-2 GPAC) at the NWC Soccer Complex.
 
The Saints of Presentation College struck twice early in the first half to take control of the match. Amy Turner struck in the 13th minute to get Presentation on the board, and six minutes later (19th minute) she would strike again to give the Saints their two scores of the match.
 
Northwestern settled down the rest of the half, only outshot by two at the halftime break (8-6). The Raiders put five shots on-goal, but unlike Presentation, could not crack the score board.
 
The second half proved to be a competitive draw with neither team finding the back of the net. Northwestern was able to put up five shots in the second half.
 
MATCH NOTES:
  • NWC had five corner kick opportunities on the match.
  • Raiders put up 11 shots with five on-goal.
  • Alexa Johnson put up a team-high four shots, followed by Keslie Paul who put up two.
  • Abby Bastian made her first start in goal tonight, recording five saves on the match.
Up Next: Northwestern will hit the road for the final time on Saturday, October 22 when they travel to Hastings, Neb. to battle the Hastings College Broncos (10-2-2, 5-2-2 GPAC) at 5:30 p.m.
