Van den Beld's Goal Lifts Raiders Past Jimmies

van den Beld scores goals in back-to-back matches

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The Northwestern College men's soccer team (4-4-3, 3-1-1 GPAC) picked up their third Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) win of the season with a 1-0 decision over the Jamestown Jimmies (2-8-1, 0-4-1 GPAC) up in North Dakota on Saturday night.
The two teams battled in the first half as Northwestern put up six shots to Jamestown's four, though neither team could find the back of the net.

It wouldn't be until the 50th minute when the deadlock was broken. Stan van den Beld (So., Voorhout, Netherlands) found the back of the net for the second time in as many games, which proved to be the lone goal and game winner.

The second half was controlled by the Raiders, as they put up eight shots to the Jimmies three. Both goal keepers notched three saves on the night.

  • The Raiders had six corner kick opportunities in the contest.
  • Ezekiel Foltz notches three saves on the contest, bringing his career save count up to 323.
