KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Northwestern College volleyball team (10-5, 2-3 GPAC) was tabbed No. 15 in the latest National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Coaches' Poll, the national office announced earlier today.
The Raiders picked up their second win of Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) play with a straight sets victory over arch-rival Dordt last Saturday. In one of the best conferences in the nation, the GPAC features top-tier opponents every single match and the Raiders have weathered the storm well.
Proof of the league's toughness can be seen in that two GPAC schools have 2-3 records in league play, and are still ranked inside the top-20 nationally.
The GPAC is strongly represented in this installment of the national polls, featuring seven teams ranked inside the top-25 and one team receiving votes. Of the seven teams ranked, two remain inside the top-5 in Jamestown and Midland.
GPAC in the rankings:
No. 1 Jamestown Jimmies (17-0, 6-0 GPAC)
No. 3 Midland Warriors (16-2, 5-2 GPAC)
No. 10 College of Saint Mary Flames (16-2, 6-1 GPAC)
No. 13 Dakota Wesleyan Tigers (15-1, 5-0 GPAC)
No. 15 Northwestern Red Raiders (10-5, 2-3 GPAC)
No. 18 Dordt Defenders (10-4, 2-3 GPAC)
No. 23 Concordia (Neb.) Bulldogs (9-6, 4-3 GPAC)
RV (73) Doane Tigers (15-4, 3-3 GPAC)
The Raiders play on their home court inside the newly renovated Bultman Center for the first time this evening, hosting No. 13-ranked Tigers of Dakota Wesleyan University. First served is set for 7:30 p.m., following the official dedication of the Bultman Center at 5:15 p.m. in the Bultman Center lobby.
