Box Score STORM LAKE, Iowa -- The Northwestern College women's tennis team (1-0) downed the Beavers of Buena Vista University 7-2 in the season opener today, Saturday, September 11. 

The Raiders were dominated in the singles portion of the meet, taking five of the six matches. Wynne Vandersall (Jr., Martelle, Iowa/Mount Vernon) and Rachel Coppock (Fr., Pella, Iowa) took care of their opponents in 6-0, 6-0 sweeps at No. 2 and No. 6, respectively. Senior Jessica Wilson (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) took care of business 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 for Northwestern. Ainslie Robinson (Fr., Luverne, Minn.) won at No. 4 6-3, 6-3, followed by a victory at No. 2 singles by Brailey Delao (Jr., Mount Belvieu, Texas).

From the start, it was Northwestern controlling the match, taking an early 2-1 lead after doubles play. The Beavers took the No. 1 doubles match 8-6 before the Raiders got hot and took the No. 2 and No. 3 matches.

The match was scored following National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules as the home team was an NCAA member.

Up Next: The Raiders will travel to Lincoln, Neb. next weekend for the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Individual Tournament on Homecoming weekend. The two day event is set for Friday, Sept. 17 and Saturday, Sept. 18 at Woods Tennis Center in Lincoln.
