The Northwestern College men's tennis team lost to Concordia 6-1 in a conference match played today in Orange City.
Brian Vanden Berg picked up the lone win for the Raiders, defeating Gregor Lainer at No.1 singles in a tie break (5-7, 6-3, 10-4).Â
"We struggled a bit against Concordia," said Northwestern Head Coach
Monte Tilgner. "The number one and two doubles matches were frustrating as both of them were literally one point away from going to a tiebreaker; they were that close. Similarly, in the singles matches, we seemed to be a little off our game and when you are pretty evenly matched you are not going to come out on top. Brian VandenBerg played very well to beat a talented player, Gregor Lainer, in the #1 singles match."
Northwestern is now 0-4 in the GPAC, 4-8 overall, heading into next week's match against Mount Marty.Â
