Schmidt Chooses Northwestern

| By:
Christopher Schmidt (Hawarden, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to continue his football career at Northwestern College.

Schmidt is a 6'4", 217-pound defensive end who enjoyed a standout, three-year career playing for West Sioux High School. Schmidt accounted for 24.5 tackles, 2.5 quarterback sacks, two interceptions and a defensive touchdown in leading the Falcons to the 1A Quarterfinals and 7-3 record. He earned all-state recognition for the second consecutive year and was named to the all-Northwest Iowa team by the Sioux City Journal. Schmidt is the son of Steve and Amanda.

"We are excited to have Chris become a Raider," said head coach Matt McCarty. "Chris is a long, disruptive defensive end who we think can be a force in our defense. He has been coached well throughout his high school career and is a good athlete."

"I chose Northwestern because of the outstanding coach staff and the sense of community I felt with the team and while on campus," stated Schmidt.
